This presentation of work made by Birmingham-based artist Ranbir Kaur work was made in response to Sundaribai’s unfired ceramic sculpture exhibited at Ikon in 2003. Impressed by the older artist’s combination of traditional style and constant experimentation, her representation of myth and legend with aspects of everyday life, Kaur demonstrates her openness to new ideas whilst being true to her own vision. Clay relief panels, decorative screens and a range of other inventive works of art amounted to an evocative installation.
