Join us for the launch of John Newling’s new book Ecology Works, a comprehensive survey of the artist’s plant-based art works over the last 20 years. This publication documents major artworks and exhibitions, and includes essays by John Newling; writer Dr Richard Davey; Anne Douglas, Emeritus Professor, Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen; and Mark Hope, Co-chair, the Barn.

To celebrate the launch Ikon hosts a soapbox-style event with quick-fire presentations by those working with nature, ecology and sustainability across Birmingham. All contributors consider ‘How do we create a new healthier ecology for Birmingham?’. This event also includes an introduction to the book by John Newling and Jonathan Casciani, Publisher and Director, Beam Editions, and a book signing, followed by food from local sustainable producers. Organised in collaboration with Beam Editions.
