The gallery is currently closed so our Family Saturdays are now digital. Follow these step by step instructions on how to create salt dough sculptures inspired by John Newling’s Soil Books, and the marble slabs into which Nymans Language is engraved.

You will need: 2 cups flour, 1 cup salt, 1 cup cold water, mixing bowl, rolling pin, roller (optional), flowers and leaves, a plastic knife, paint, paintbrushes, string and glue.

We would love to see creations – share on social media using #ikongallery #ikonathome or @ikongallery or email Have a go at our previous Family Saturday activities on our YouTube channel.

Ikon’s Learning Programme is supported by Cass Art. Please consider making a donation for this free activity. Ikon is a registered charity and your support helps us with everything we do.
