Join Kelsang Lhasang, Buddhist nun from Kadampa Meditation Centre Birmingham, for a guided meditation session. Taking place within Ikon’s exhibition by Betsy Bradley, Chasing Rainbows, these sessions draw upon the artist’s meditative approach to painting.

Everyone is welcome to attend and these sessions are suitable for all levels; beginners and those with some meditation experience. No special clothing or equipment required. Chairs are provided, or bring your own cushion / mat if you prefer to sit on the floor.

Themes:
8 December: Finding inner peace
12 January: Growing our love
26 February: Dealing with mental busyness
9 February: Seeing kindness

About the meditation:
Each session includes a short talk containing guidance on how to meditate on special wisdom-based ways of viewing our self, other people and the world around us in order to develop and maintain a peaceful mind. Participants then engage in a simple guided meditation based on the theme of the talk which concludes with a suggestion of how to take that inner peace and positive mind state into your busy daily life.

Meditating in this way allows us to experience a calm, spacious feeling in the mind, and many of our problems will fall away. Difficult situations will become easier to deal with, we will naturally feel warm and well disposed towards other people, and our relationships with others will gradually improve.

About the teacher:
Kelsang Lhasang is a fully ordained Kadampa Buddhist nun, a student of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche. Lhasang has been studying and practicing Buddha’s teachings for over 12 years, teaching meditation classes in the UK and Australia.
