The Listening Room is an evolving series of installations by artist David Cunningham. The two installations in the Second Floor Galleries sucked ambient noise into an increasingly amplified wave of sound. The effect was accumulative, breaking and subsiding before building up again in an endless cycle. The work responded acoustically not only to the environment but also to the presence of visitors. In-between the two installations a third space allowed the sounds to interact – in a very real sense the galleries were listening to each other.
