Guangdong Museum of Art Guangzhou, China
The Fourth Guangzhou Triennial, one of the biggest art events in China, is curated by Jiang Jiehong, Director of Centre for Chinese Visual Arts (Birmingham City University) and Ikon Director Jonathan Watkins. Its title The Unseen refers to the complexity of ways of seeing, focusing our attention on the invisible, but by no means precluding the visible.
The Triennial exhibits work by up to 75 international contemporary artists from over 30 countries, including many of those who have exhibited at Ikon such as MadeIn (China), Giuseppe Penone (Italy), On Kawara (Japan), Michael Craig-Martin (UK) and Ruth Claxton (UK) plus the work of other international artists including Ham Jin (South Korea), Shen Shaomin (China) and Chen Chieh-Jen (Taiwan).
