Ikon Decades Bundle

Available at a special bundle price, these three catalogues chart the history of Ikon and accompanied exhibitions focusing on Ikon’s artistic programme through the lens of a particular decade, including work by artists Art & Language, Sylvani Merilion, Cornelia Parker, John Salt and Richard Wilson.

Some of the Best Things in Life Happen Accidentally was published to coincide with the 40th anniversary of Ikon Gallery in 2004. It contains interviews with the founding artists as well as biographies of 12 artists associated with the gallery during the 1960s.

This Could Happen to You, accompanied an exhibition surveying Ikon in the 1970s from 2010. There was an emphasis on aesthetic innovation, matched by efforts towards greater accessibility, involving artists from further afield in the UK, and occasionally from abroad.

As Exciting As We Can Make It: Ikon in the 1980s In 2014 it drew on the work of 29 artists working in a wide range of media including film, photography, painting, sculpture and sound. The 80s saw the rise of postmodernism and a particular emphasis on appropriation, with artists such as John Stezaker referencing Dada through his collages.

These three catalogues usually retail for £45.
