Minimalism Bundle

Three keenly priced catalogues by major artists and proponents of a pure, minimalist aesthetic – Dan Flavin, Carmen Herrera and Donald Judd.

Dan Flavin was one of the most important post-war American artists. Taking his statement “It is what it is and it ain’t nothing else” as a departure point, Ikon’s exhibition demonstrated Flavin’s emphasis on the importance of the context of artistic experience capitalising on the variety of interiors that Ikon Gallery offers. The publication includes an essay by Jeffrey Weiss, Senior Curator, Guggenheim Museum, New York, and installation photographs of the exhibition.

Herrera’s 2009 exhibition at Ikon was her first solo show in Europe. The catalogue includes examples of paintings and works on paper from the late 1940s through to the present day. Herrera has consistently refined her focus on space and colour, paint characteristically applied in fat, solid areas, combining symmetry and asymmetry as a means to give structure to the surface.

A Good Chair is a Good Chair, was published for Ikon’s 2010 exhibition of work by Donald Judd, widely regarded as one of the most important artists of the twentieth century. A key exponent of minimalism, Judd (1928–1994) worked across art, architecture and furniture, the latter being the focus of this catalogue, devoted exclusively to Judd’s furniture designs and related drawings.

These three catalogues usually retail for £60
