Ikon Gallery is accessible to all visitors with visual, hearing and mobility impairments.
Access to building and facilities
Ikon has level access from the street. The passenger lift, with embossed controls, provides access to all facilities except the Tower Room.
All public access doors are a minimum of 750mm wide.
A staffed cloakroom facility is available for leaving awkward baggage and strollers.
A wheelchair is available for use by visitors.
Portable seating is available in the exhibition galleries.
The reception desk and shop desk are at accessible heights with knee hole access for wheelchairs
Toilets on the ground and first floors are accessible for disabled visitors or visitors with limited dexterity.
Evacuation chairs are available for emergency use.
We welcome guide and hearing dogs.
Baby changing facilities are available on the ground floor.

Ikon Gallery offers disabled visitors support facilities to ensure that the exhibition programme can be appreciated by all.

A free exhibition tour with British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation takes place during each exhibition. Please see What’s On for details of forthcoming events. Suitable for Deaf visitors, their friends and family.
There is clear signage throughout with a minimum recommended text size for labels and signage.
The Resource Room offers background information for exhibitions, with accessible audio visuals, books and other resources.
Friendly, well-trained staff are available to provide assistance to visitors, or to offer tours and workshops.
