Christina Kubisch’s Electrical Walks offered a new experience of Birmingham. Special magnetic headphones enabled the wearer to hear otherwise undetectable frequencies emitted from all kinds of electrical systems such as those found in traffic lights, anti-theft security devices, surveillance cameras, mobile phones, computers and neon advertising.

The recordings from the walks were remixed into a musical composition by the artist and formed part of e-legend, an installation in Ikon’s Tower Room
