A Walk in the Park
Join us in the galleries for A Walk in the Park, a new short ballet choreographed by Birmingham Royal Ballet artist Olivia Chang-Clarke.
This performance marks the third and final chapter of a unique collaboration between artist Angela de la Cruz and Birmingham Royal Ballet. The partnership began with de la Cruz observing rehearsals for Sir Peter Wright’s production of The Nutcracker, which inspired her sculptural work Blister (2026). It then evolved into the film A Walk In the Park, before culminating in this live dance performance presented amongst the artworks.
Three people are walking. Where are they going? Where have they come from? Through the simple, everyday act of walking, A Walk in the Park creates a series of unexpected encounters that surprise, delight and invite interpretation.
“A Walk in the Park features three dancers. The movement is based on the music and creates a pedestrian feel to the piece. The story is left to interpretation, but I wanted it to look like a snippet from everyday life.” Olivia Chang-Clarke
Presented in the gallery alongside Angela de la Cruz’s exhibition, A Walk in the Park offers a final opportunity to experience the creative dialogue between visual art and dance that has unfolded through this collaboration
