Ikon Slow Boat – Artist in Residence: James Lomax

Birmingham-based  artist James Lomax is artist in residence on Ikon Slow Boat for six weeks in August and September. James is part of Studio Capri, an artist-run studio group based in a former factory on Great Tindal Street in Birmingham’s Ladywood area.

Using Ikon Slow Boat as his base, James will explore Ladywood and the brownfield sites close to his studio and is keen to talk to people who live, work and travel around Icknield Port Loop. Equipped with his 35mm camera, he will carefully trace the industrial past of the area, document his walks and investigations in photography and watercolour with his research forming the creation of a new series of works.

James’ progress can also be followed each Wednesday as he takes over Ikon’s Instagram account.
