MA Arts and Education Practices – Takeaways

Workshop

Join students and staff from the MA Arts and Education Practices (MAAEP) course for a Takeaways workshop, involving a walking tour and collective play. Starting at Ikon Gallery, participants explore sites across the city centre and canal networks that lead towards Centrala in Digbeth. This roving workshop provides the opportunity for an exchange of cross-cultural knowledge and common histories. Participants are advised to wear footwear for city walking. Tea and cake provided at Centrala.

Takeaways is a project developed by MAAEP students at Birmingham City University in response to the themes and narratives present in Ikon’s Migrant Festival. The project has been developed through extended dialogue and active collaboration to enable new models of sharing work within the city.

This event is part of The Migrant Festival 2022 and Ikon’s Arrivals programme for Summer 2022, concerned with the international movement of people and ideas and organised to coincide with the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
