Slow Boat – Your Walsall on Water
Step aboard Slow Boat for a unique journey through Walsall’s past and present.
Your Walsall on Water is a relaxed, creative canal experience designed for families to explore local stories, share memories, and see the town from a new perspective. As you travel along the waterways, you’ll take part in a hands-on workshop that transforms your everyday journeys into bold, graphic artworks.
This event is part of the wider Walsall Archive for All (WAFA) project, a two-year programme led by Walsall Council and supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund. WAFA is working with communities across the borough to make Walsall’s archives more inclusive, accessible, and reflective of the people who live here today, whilst celebrating and digesting the remarkable Jack Haddock Collection.
Each one-hour session includes a gentle boat ride paired with creative activities for all ages. After a warm welcome and introduction, you’ll enjoy a 30-minute canal journey while taking part in Map Your Walsall, a hands-on activity where you’ll mark important places, daily routes, and emotional hotspots to create your own visual story of the town. Along the way, contribute to our Story Stations by sharing memories of your favourite journeys and places in Walsall, adding your voice to a growing community story.
