Talk – The Honeymoon Project: 30th Anniversary

Ikon marks the 30th anniversary of The Honeymoon Project (1986 – 92, at Ikon Spring 1991), an ambitious, international undertaking by Spanish artist Antoni Miralda. Based on the symbolic marriage of the Statue of Liberty, New York, and the Columbus Monument, Barcelona, Miralda engaged global cities to contribute different parts of the ceremony. Birmingham provided an eternity ring, commissioned by Ikon and co-produced in the Jewellery Quarter, filled with thousands of rings donated by people from all over the UK. Thirty years on, Miralda reviews media footage of the ceremony with Kirstie North, Ikon Archivist.
