Work No. 955, performed by CBSO

Martin Creed

Symphony Hall, Broad Street, Birmingham

Martin Creed often works with musicand his Work No. 409, a piece for choir and lift, is a permanent installation at Ikon, performed by Ex Cathedra,  Birmingham’s renowned choir. In Work No. 955, a new piece for orchestra, Creed continues looking into some of the ideas explored in Work No. 409, using the high and low notes of the instruments and, as he says, “trying to make a piece in which all of the instruments are equal”. The performance lasted 5 minutes and took place following the evening concert programme of  The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.
