Ikon Team Update

Ikon enters a new phase in its history as Jonathan Watkins, Director since 1999, has completed his time leading the gallery. During the coming period members of the current senior management team will take on new roles and responsibilities.

“Our diverse new leadership team was chosen by the Board of Trustees earlier this year. For the coming months we are thrilled to be working with Ian Hyde as Acting Chief Executive Officer, Melanie Pocock as Acting Artistic Director, Exhibitions and Dr Linzi Stauvers as Acting Artistic Director, Education. Jonathan Watkins has stepped down as Director of Ikon after 23 years; he leaves enormous boots to fill, and we want to ensure we don’t rush into recruiting our new artistic lead, but take the time to reflect. This gives us the opportunity to enhance the development of our own staff and ensure business resilience. We will continue to deliver educational and cultural excellence, and keep Ikon free for all, even during these challenging times.”
