Meet The Maker – Tokidokie Cookies
Meet Hoon Yoon, the founder of Tokidokie Cookies who will be a stallholder at this year’s Winter Craft Market on Thursday 7 December.
Tell us a bit about your brand…
I started Tokidoki Cookies last year as a side gig, mainly to unwind from my day job and tap back into my creative side. After launching on Etsy, we started collaborating with brands for custom biscuits, and it’s been even better than I expected. Unlike some bigger biscuit brands, I think my stuff is just a touch fancier and more detailed, thanks to my steady hands. And, well, my designs are a bit quirky.
What inspires your work?
I draw inspiration from everyday stuff — art, films, nature and animals etc. I’m into cute and quirky things in general, and I lean towards vivid, poppy colours rather than soft and subtle shades. Vintage poster designs also give me ideas for colour palettes.
Why shop locally?
Local shops hide treasures you won’t find in big stores or online brands. Plus, supporting local businesses helps them grow and builds connections in the community.
Advice for starting a creative brand?
If you’ve had an idea floating around, just give it a shot. Whether it takes off or not depends on how much time and effort you’re willing to put in, but the key is to get started.
