Tom Hicks: Black Country Type

“There is an element about it which is about exploring the Black Country as well. So, although that’s where I’m from, there’s loads of parts I’ve never been to. And if you drop me in the middle of some places, I’d struggle to get home, probably.” Tom Hicks.

Thank you to all who attended the book launch for Black Country Type. The event included a discussion between the author Tom Hicks and artist Dean Kelland – a recording of the event is now available (see below).

Black Country Type depicts over 100 photographs taken between 2017 and 2023, documenting the post-industrial landscape of the Black Country. Published by The Modernist, the book is designed by Laura Jaunzems and features a foreword by artist and photographer John Myers.
