
Easter Holiday Family Activities
This Easter holiday, Ikon invites families to join a series of drop‑in clay workshops. Guided by artists and tutors from Sundragon Community Pottery in Balsall Heath, participants will explore a variety of hand‑building techniques and discover creative ways to work with the ancient medium of ceramics.
Wednesday 1 April: Pinch-pot animals
Saturday 4 April (Family Saturday): Clay gargoyles
Wednesday 8 April: Seeds and cane toppers
Kate Wade is a Birmingham-based potter who works between her own Little Moo Studio and Sundragon. Kate uses layered slips, scraffito and mishima techniques create a range of surfaces on her wheel-thrown and hand-built work. @Littlemoostudio
Nessa Grimes makes functional pottery, which is finished in both electric and wood-fired kilns, from her Fire Formed studio in Birmingham. Her work is available to buy at many local artisan markets and through her website. @fireformed2020
